We are absolutely delighted to celebrate the fantastic success of our Transition Year students Vanessa Fregene Omoregie, Nicole Linehan, and Jennika Joyce, who have won the prestigious Méihuā Cup Chinese Learning Competition! A big thank you to Beibei Su for teaching and guiding them throughout the year.

This year’s competition brought together students from 8 schools across Cork ETB, showcasing exceptional talent, dedication, and cultural understanding. Our students truly excelled, impressing judges with their ability to:

Introduce themselves confidently in Chinese
Recite poetry, including beautiful pieces inspired by the Méihuā (Plum Blossom)
Present in both Chinese and English
Perform cultural talents with creativity and flair
Organised by Cork County Council and Cork Education and Training Board, the Méihuā Cup is a high-profile event that strengthens cultural ties between Cork and Jiangsu Province, China, while encouraging language learning and global awareness.

As winners, Vanessa, Nicole, and Jennika have earned an incredible prize — a 7-day educational trip to Nanjing, China this October! 🇨🇳✈️ This will be an unforgettable opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese culture and continue their learning journey.
